Slice of Life - Day 90

Today we took Kalli to the dog park and then both drove separately into Vancouver. I took the Jeep and went and picked up Christina and B took the Passat to his dad's to work on the water problem on the passenger side. Once I met up with Christina she directed me over to West Van and we went to somewhere called "The Village" so that I could go to Old Navy to buy some Yoga pants for my first Yoga class on Friday. I got what I needed there (plus a cute skirt for summer) and then we went into Whole Foods where I proceeded to drool over every bit of merchandise. We picked up some amazingly tasty burritos there that I could see us eating every day if we had a Whole Foods close by. Then after some minor traffic issues we made it to Paul's place and picked up the boys, then headed to Sysko's Supper to pick up a couple orders of food for the animals, then drove to BC Place and met us with Becca to go to the 2009 Car Show. I have been looking very forward to this because I was hoping like crazy that they would have a new Camaro... and I was not disappointed! Well in a way I was because I didn't like the color of the one they brought to the show but I still got to sit in it and dream a little :) When I still worked at Future Shop and was making decent money I swore that I was going to buy one of these when they came back out... unfortunately I am not still at Future Shop and there is no way in the world that I can afford one on what I make now. However it was still cool to see it (and sit in it). Other than that highlight the show didn't seem as fun this year but it was still good to go, and look and dream a little plus always nice to spend time with family and friends. After we came out of there around 9 Paul treated us to a yummy dinner at Lombardo's and then we drove Christina home, then Paul back to his place where we picked up a few things and then finally Becca to the sky train station in New West to pick up her car and then home for us. Now its just past midnight and I am going to sleep! Sweet dreams :)

* Weird... I just noticed how similiar the cars that Becca and I liked best are :)

Slice of Life - Day 89

Super lazy day here... slept in, surfed, had a nap, went to Five Corners Cafe for lunch, walked the dog, surfed some more, read for an hour or so, had another longer nap, got dinner at Safeway, watched two episodes of 24 then the news... surfed some more, now time for bed. Lazy lazy day.
  • B didn't want to be in today's photo except for his hand
  • The Buckcherry poster is from the window of the Five Corner's Cafe. I go there once a week for lunch with Anna and know the girls a little... I told them I wanted the poster when it first went up but they told me I had to wait til after the show but then today I walked in with B and sat down and my favorite waitress went and took it out of the window and handed it to me :) Yeeehaaw!!!
  • This is actually Monday's post, it says Tuesday cause I'm a little late in posting (it's 1am)

Slice of Life - Day 88

Did nothing exciting today... didn't know what to take a photo of so I decided on the usual suspects.. the animals :)

I got them all in there... you can even see a blurry hopping bunny in the last one with Brendan and Zim. Zim used to always love B best but in the 6 months to a year has become more my cat. It is me she curls up with at night and sleeps with etc but today she totally was just wanting B so I wanted to document that.

I also wanted to get a photo of Patches... she is such a good easy cat... no complaints, no bad behaviors (well besides catching birds and bringing them in the house but that's a cat thing so I cant complain) and she almost gets "lost" in the chaos around here just because she doesn't ask for much. She doesn't break into the oven to get food, doesn't come wake me up every morning at 5am, doesn't chase the dog around the house etc. Sometimes I feel like she must feel that we don't give her much attention... but I love her to bits! I try to tell her but I'm just not sure she understands my meowing at her... I think she just might think I'm a little nuts :)

Slice of Life - Day 87

Tonight after work Brendan and I met Brea and Chris for dinner and drinks at the new Wings on the beach. I could see it becoming a new favorite as it was pretty good, drinks were awesome (good call on the Bellini's Breaface) and it was pretty inexpensive. I'd had a pretty yukky day at work cleaning the warehouse and both B and I were pretty tired and were going to just hang out at home and watch TV... so when Brea texted B said to say no... but we like hanging out with them... and its good to go out and see friends so I changed our minds and I'm really glad we got out. Oh and I'm super excited to do Yoga with Brea and Melissa!! Yay!!

Oh and on another note Kalli is 6 months old today! So wish her a Happy Birthday when you see her :)

Slice of Life - Day 86

I did some Spring cleaning in our spare room closet today. I took all the junk out of it and then put a few bookcases in so that I could put all my books in there. I'm quite happy with how it turned out... I really like being able to see all my books and also really love that I have a couple shelves to store my purses on. Brendan is also happy because I organized all his computer stuff that he had stored in one huge box and gave it a home up on the top shelf so it is a lot easier for him to find things.

Zim seems to like hanging out in there too ;)

I wish I took a "before" shot so you could see the difference but I forgot.

Slice of Life - Day 85

Cute kitties... The beanie baby that Zimmie Zoo is holding is one of their baby toys from when they were first born. We put a few of them in their "crib" (box) to keep them company when Bonkie was out and about. They have just been stored in a basket since then and tonight when Zim was sleeping on top of my bookshelf I gave her one and she held it and licked it all clean then went to sleep with it :)
On the one that has only the beanie baby in focus she would hold it out to me and then pull her paw back and rub her face all over it before licking it some more... awwww!

Slice of Life - Day 84

Tonight Brendan and I went to Sidharth Grill for dinner... yummm.... these photos were taken with my blackberry obviously.

This is sort of unrelated to my POTD project... but also in a way fits in because I do spend a portion of my time each week reading another blog. For anyone who wants to read a true story of how one mans life changed forever in just one day "life and death - all in a 27 hour period - as he calls it then you should head over to this blog... http://www.mattlogelin.com/ and read the story of Matt, Liz and Madeline. It is at times heartbreaking (start from the beginning), at times funny and at all times very real. It is the story of a man (Matt) who with wife (Liz) were expecting a baby (Madeline), had the baby... and then tragically Liz died in hospital the very next day. Matt is very open about his feelings and how hard it has been and also how much of a joy Madeline is. I have been reading this blog since just after Liz died and have very much enjoyed watching adorable little Madeline grow and develop and have shed more than a few tears for Matt, for Liz, for all of them. I mention it now because yesterday was Madeline's first birthday and today is the first anniversary of the death of Liz. I think they could use all the thoughts, prayers and blessings that you may have to spare at this time.

Slice of Life - Day 83

Busy. Busy. Busy!

Today started out with a drive out to North Vancouver with my sister where I purchased a new piece of furniture that I am in love with. The problem with being a craigslist stalker is that you see things that you don't need but just love and end up buying them. It is currently sitting in the shed but after I do a couple things to it will wind up either in my scrapbook room or the guest room... and will one day go in our babies room.

Once coming home and explaining to my very patient husband that I just needed it I had a conference call with the powers that be in the Buckcherry camp at Warner Music Group and then went off to lunch and more shopping in Langley with Brendan. We went to Future Shop and purchased a new deep freeze to put our pet food in... then to Pet Smart for a new dog lead for the backyard and to look at all the options for keeping Kalli restrained in our cars and for keeping our cars clean. Next we hit Costco for contacts and I honestly think it was the only time that we have gone to Costco and didn't pig out on "samples". Amazing! We finally bought a new bathroom scale so that we could weigh our dog mostly (shes 50 pounds!) and I got a new JD Robb book!! :) After picking up the freezer from the Langley depot we came home and took Kalli for a walk where she injured me nicely.. apparently she does not appreciate me swinging on the swings at the park. Lesson learned! Then we watched the rest of the hockey game... go Canucks go! Then got Chinese for dinner and the new Bond movie on dvd...

Now I'm off to bed with my new book... here's hoping I don't stay up all night reading it!

Slice of Life - Day 82

Funny, we had so much going on today starting with me being wide awake and getting up at 6am to clean my house... Kalli being a brat and getting into the neighbours yard at 7am and me chasing her around for a half hour... a trip with Brendan and Kalli to the dog park, a nice lunch at Look Watts Cooking on the beach... a drive out to Delta and Vancouver to buy some furniture I found on craigslist... the yummiest pizza for dinner at Lombardo's with Paul and Christina... then finally a movie in Richmond on the way home... yet I didn't take any photographs except for a dog at the dog park taken with my blackberry. Weird!

So here it is... a photo of Kalli's friend Mick at Dogwood carrying around a stick so monstrous that he could barely hold his head up :)

And a movie ad for the movie we went to see...

Slice of Life - Day 79

Today was uneventful, tonight we went out to dinner with Chris and Brea, then went to a movie... We had planned to see Duplicity with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen but we ran late and had to pick something else instead. The boys wanted to see Watchmen but Brea and I didn't and I had picked Duplicty so she picked Knowing with Nicholas Cage. Uhm bad pick (sorry Breaface - I still heart you). It wasn't completely terrible but uh I wouldn't recommend it... at least not to see in theatre.
We had left Kalli tied up at home while we were out because she has taken to destroying - and I mean that literally - everything she can get her teeth on when were not home. This is what we saw when we walked in the door. :)

Slice of Life - Day 78

So today I spent my morning in the hospital and my afternoon antique shopping. I have been on the hunt for a few metal flower frogs for a while and was considering purchasing them on ebay but the shipping is a little pricey due to how heavy they are. So I have been wanting to drive out to Fort Langley to check out an antique mall that I used to go wander around in after school and on weekends when I lived there. It is made up of a bunch of different peoples stalls all blending into one vintage mess basically... but a beautiful mess I must say. I found 5 different frogs... all basically the same but different sizes... they weren't the exact ones I was looking for but I bought a couple anyway. These ones have a green plastic base and the ones I really want have a metal base and usually have a nice patina due to their age and the fact that they spend lots of their time in a vase full of water. I tried a few more shops there and then went out to Cloverdale where I found one more like what I wanted. So I came home with three of them, none exactly right but all will work and the third one is pretty close.

Then I caught up on some tv shows I have missed and Brendan had downloaded for me... the first being Greys Anatomy which was awesome and made me cry. B got home as that one was ending and sat and watched two episodes of Criminal Minds with me. Somewhere during the first one of those I had an allergy attack which was bad enough that I had to take stupid Benadryl...boo... and that is the reason this post is late... although its supposed to be non-drowsy it always messes me up and I passed out. Brendan nicely took a photo of my passed out self but when I woke up I was too drowsy to post here... so that is why it is late :)

Slice of Life - Day 77

77 days of photos... wow!

Today I was playing with Bun-Bun on Brendan's desk and Kalli was not impressed at all to have my attention on someone (or something) other than her... :)
