Slice of Life - Day 59

Christina and Paul came out from Vancouver tonight to celebrate Paul's Birthday. We went to Sidharth Grill for dinner with the McKay's. Dinner was amazingly tasty as always followed by a delicious cake that Christina brought. I snapped a quick family portrait when we got home before they left and then B and I took Kalli for a walk because she was uber hyper :)

Slice of Life - Day 58

Today we had a play at the dog park, went to Future Shop to get our phone warranties and then went over to the other Surrey Future Shop to see see some of my old friends. A lot of the staff from my time there have moved on but there were still a few familiar faces. I had heard that my good friend and the girl who worked under me (Sandy) was back and I had really hoped to find her there but it turns out she took an unexpected day off for an appointment. I still got to hang in the lunch room with Kuljeet and Melissa though who were a couple of my favorite people back then so it was nice. Later we went to Ocean Park Pizza Pub to watch the hockey game with Brea, Chris, Melissa and her new boyfriend... had a yummy dinner shared with friends and then came home to tidy up the house.

Ever since Paul bought us a new and cool vacuum it has become B's favorite chore while cleaning. It isn't even hard to get him to help clean up the house any more as long as he gets to do the vacuuming :)

Slice of Life - Day 57

So my post is a little late tonight because I fell asleep for a while while watching the news :)

I have been wanting a Blackberry but B didn't think I should get one because I rarely use my current cell phone so he didn't see the need for me to have one... we have been going back and forth on the issue for a couple weeks with him saying okay sometimes and then no other times. Finally the other day he decided that we would both get Blackberry's and I couldn't have been more excited... then today I was talking to him from work and he said he had thought about it some more and that we should wait because he is buying a new car but we still have a few payments to make on his own car so we should wait to add another bill to the mix until that has been paid off. I was pretty ticked about it because I really want one and I am not used to being told no... and I felt like it wasn't fair for him to say yes and then no... but I didn't say much and thought I would wait and see what happened.

Imagine my surprise when he calls me a few hours later at work and tells me we are getting them!! One of his cell phone reps at work promised him a very sweet deal on them because he needed the commission so B fell for it and brought us both one home! They were out of the one he wants so he had to take a loaner one in the meantime... its funny cause its pink! :) But I got the one I wanted which I'm stoked about. I actually wanted a different model that was touch screen but was talked out of it because it is pretty new and apparently quite "buggy" still so I got the Blackberry Bold instead which is one of the fastest you can get because it is 3G (whatever that means)

I haven't had the chance to play with it too much yet but so far I like it!

My other photo today was taken while driving down an ice covered street on my way to get ice melter for our lot at work... it just looked so pretty with the snow on the trees and the snowy mountains off in the distance :)

Slice of Life - Day 56

It's snowing!! So weird! Some of the snowflakes were like 1.5-2 inches wide today, it was crazy :)

Slice of Life - Day 55

Today was a quiet day... talked to my Becca on the phone for a few minutes which was nice because I have been missing her... then headed out to Langley to Future Shop to pick up a few things that B needed for work and to look at Blackberry's for both of us. I found out that the one I want does not have 3G so I had to decide on one that I don't like the look of as much but that will be better suited to what I need it for. We decided to think about it some more and to try and find a Rogers dealer to talk to them about B getting out of his contract with Fido.

Next we headed across the street to Pet Smart to look for a muzzle for Kalli. We didn't like the fit of any of the ones there so decided to keep looking, drove back home to White Rock and stopped in at Tisol where we found one that fit her better. The trainer there isn't too impressed that we have decided to go that route... says it is just putting a band-aid on the problem and she sees the real problem with Kalli's behaviour as inconsistency with B and I... she says that our energy towards the dog is very different... I'm a bit soft yet too firm at the wrong time and B tends to be more firm but that we are not on the same page at all which she believes is bound to confuse the dog. She really seems to know what she is talking about and as with Lisa Kalli responds very well to her. We are thinking about having a session with her but she is very expensive so we need to see if we can fit it in somewhere.

After that we went to Save-On to get some groceries for dinner and saw a Rogers dealer in the same complex so we talked to them about our plans and found out that the family plan is actually quite reasonable and B can get out of his contract and both of us will actually get a $100 credit for switching so that is nice.

Next we went to the dog park for a walk with Kalli and a little bit of a play but it had started raining pretty hard so there weren't many dogs there. Finally got home and I got caught up on my work for the Buckcherry site and then had a nice nap with Kalli while B played WOW. He woke me up a couple hours later because he was wanting dinner :) We had purchased our favorite chicken at the market yesterday so we had that for dinner... soooo yummy.

Tonight we finally got caught up on 24!!! Oh so good, cant wait for next week now!

Slice of Life - Day 54

Today we drove out to Vancouver to attend Puppy Play at Sysko's Supper. Lisa has been so great with helping us to train Kalli so we go as often as we can so that we can learn more stuff!

There were two other puppies there today as well as Sysko and Saxon and the cat (Samson?)... The puppies had a good play and then it was my favorite time, time for the big dogs to come out of the cage and play too!! I am so enamoured of these dogs... they are just so beautiful.

After Puppy Play was over Brendan, Christina, Kalli and I all headed down to Granville Island to pick up some Chilli Ginger Garlic Chicken from the market for dinner tomorrow night... then we wandered around there until it was time to go meet Paul for dinner at Marcellos... yum!

Then had a visit back at Paul's place... then home! A nice full yet oddly relaxing day :)

Slice of Life - Day 53

A daily part of life around here resolves around fertility stuff... it has become the white elephant in the room I guess... we spent a few months where it was all we talked about... our quest to have a baby... what would it be like, what we would name it (Emma or Ethan), would we be good parents, would I work, who would be in the delivery room with me, what if it was twins?!

But now that it is taking longer and longer and our hope has diminished it has become something to avoid speaking of... there are enough reminders around the house, and in our life that we don't need to talk about it every second. But you can see the evidence of a hope so great in the corners of our house if you know where to look... my daily planner that sits on my desk, always open to the current month with the little x's on the "sex days" as we call them so that B can look and know when he needs to save his energy ;) The Materna vitamins in the kitchen that I take each night in hopes to have a healthy baby when the time comes... the thermometer and fertility kit that rests on my bedside table charting away each day. The stockpile of baby scrapbooking items in my craft room... the oh so super soft baby blanket that we saw somewhere early on and just couldn't resist - telling ourselves it was on sale and we would need it sooner or later. Now that the sooner has become later it's been banished to the closet because I don't want to look at it.

Sometimes I swear if one more person tells me "it will happen if it's meant to" I am going to punch them in the face.

Slice of Life - Day 52

The kitties don't seem to be feeling well today... I don't know if maybe they got a bad batch of meat or what but they are all kind of upset and grumpy and just laying around sick like. Patches is especially rather unhappy so of course it was her photo I decided to take :)

Slice of Life - Day 51

I just got home from Tim's, went and got a hot chocolate for me and a blueberry bagel for B... now I'm printing out photos of my Buckcherry weekend... hoping to find some mojo to actually scrap them. I have been feeling so lost lately when it comes to scrapbooking... I have such a desire to do it but every time I sit down to I get some weird mental block! I'm also chatting/checking the Buckcherry site... I spend a lot of my free time there and it is a total part of my "daily" life so its the perfect candidate for a photo for this blog... seeing as its supposed to be about daily life.

Slice of Life - Day 50

I am so in love with our Country today, so inspired by President Obama and so thankful to be Canadian :)

Also so thankful to live in such a beautiful city where I can just be driving home on an average day and see a beautiful sun setting over the water complete with an eagle flying low.

Slice of Life - Day 49

Things that are making me happy today:
  • Clean (ish) Scraproom
  • Buckcherry Wall (Canadian Dates announced, got tickets today!)
  • Zimmie being my baby and needing to be where I am
  • New Papa Roach Album (listening right now)
  • Makeover of my scrapbook aisle at work that I decided to do at like 4 pm and had to work until 9pm by myself to finish... worth every extra minute, I actually like my aisle again :)
  • Yummy lunch from Look Watts Cooking eaten by myself in the sunshine... hello Spring!

Yay for happy things!

Slice of Life - Day 48

Kalli has 2 bff's, her first is Kyah, Chris and Brea's dog who she hasnt gotten to see very often lately and the second is Zoe, a dog she met and fell in love with at the dog park. Anytime they are there at the same time they immediately find each other and run and play and run some more excluding most of the other dogs. Zoe is a very interesting mix - a Husky/Collie cross and has the bluest eyes I have ever seen. . This photo has not been altered in any way, they really are that blue and that piercing!

She is 8 months old and is quite adorable. She likes to herd the other dogs like a Collie but then has this very still way of watching and waiting like a Husky.

Sorry for Kalli posts two days in a row but she does take up a lot of our life!! :)

Slice of Life - Day 47

Kalli - 19 Weeks (almost 5 months)

I took these for her 5 month photos and then realized that she turns 5 months next week, not this week! :)

Slice of Life - Day 46

Made some progress in my scrapbook room tonight, my desk is cleaned off, a couple piles sorted... the rest will be done tomorrow hopefully. It would be nice to be able to use this room for what it was intended for again someday soon.

Zim kept me company while I worked on it :)

Brendan remembered V-day this year... we had made a pact to "go small" and just buy each other something little, he asked for turtles (which he received x2) and I asked for my usual Starbucks mug to add to my ever growing collection which I received with the lovely addition of my favorite flowers all arranged in a vase while I was in the shower... sweet.
