Slice of Life - Day 66

Today wasn't a particularly great day... it wasn't bad, just not awesome, you know? I have had a headache literally from the moment I woke up... Advil and and what feels like 50 gallons of water has not helped and I am looking forward to going to bed after this to sleep it off. I am always thankful for each and every day, I just won't be sorry to leave this day behind.
I have had someone on my mind a lot today for some reason... and I am sure that has contributed to my not so great mood :) Ive been thinking of my ex, Paul and all that we went through together and wondering how he is doing now, if he's better, if he's happy... if he lives his life as contently as I live mine.

Thinking of him brought me back to the time in our life together that now, looking back was the beginning of the end. The time that he started hanging out with the people who would get him heavily into drugs and addiction. But back then I didn't know what was to come... and enjoyed the scene as much as he did. Hanging out at the Cobalt Hotel in Van every weekend, going to punk rock shows (the real stuff, not the crap they like to call punk rock today), meeting people that we would never meet living in White Rock.

So thinking of all of this made me take a photo of my "punk rock" Vans as my photo of the day... and of some of my many bracelets I started collecting back then... My vans have certainly had their day and are showing their age... but they are my favorite pair of shoes and I have vowed to wear them until they literally fall apart!

Ahhhh good times... But am I ever so glad that they're over!!

Slice of Life - Day 65

Today was another day of Jeep shopping, well it also included two trips to the dog park, a very muddy Kalli having to have a bath, a visit to work to pick up my Blackberry charger cause if my Blackberry battery had the nerve to die I would probably throw a tantrum and cry like a baby, and a visit to my dad's house where Kalli ate too many treats. And now were off to the pub to have dinner and drinks with a few friends :)

Here's a photo from our car shopping adventure.

Slice of Life - Day 64

Booo another day where I fell asleep without posting. Shoot! Oh well here are yesterdays photos...

Another relatively quiet day, worked, came home and went and dinner with B and Christina at Ocean Park Pizza because C had come out here to walk Kalli seeing as Thursday's are one of the days where we both work all day. Then came home and played a bit with Kalli and her ball, then dove back into the current JD Robb book that I am reading "Holiday in Death". All of these books are titled "____ in Death" and they are my favorite series ever. I am totally addicted but am getting close to having read them all, there are a few of the older ones that are proving a little harder to find - I found this one on Amazon :) - but I think there is a new one out later this month. Around 10pm Brendan called out wanting to know if I wanted to go for a drive... to look at Jeeps of course :) So off came the jammies and on a bunch of layers of clothes cause it was freezing out and off we went to look at 3 Jeeps at two local dealers... I wanted a hot chocolate from Timmies in the worst way but both of us had forgotten our wallets at home. Once we got home I went right back to reading, B right back to looking online for Jeeps and that was pretty much that. :)

Slice of Life - Day 63

Had a quiet day at work, hung out til B came home at 930 and then went with him to Walmart because he wanted to stock up on Powerade and we wanted to get Kalli a special treat that she has been wanting since since our last visit to my sister's house. Funnily they were completely out of Powerade but we did get Kalli her present. She went nuts as soon as she saw us walking towards the car with it :)

Slice of Life - Day 62

Today we took back the massive amounts of recyclables in our carport, took the dog for a walk in Dogwood Forest and had lunch at Nando's. I also washed my car and vacuumed it out which hadn't been done in a while! Kinda gross actually :)

Now I am playing with and getting frustrated by my Blackberry and my computer. Having a techie as a husband only helps when he actually wants to help you with something... but it seems he will help anyone but me! Grrrrr!

Slice of Life - Day 61

After I got my new Blackberry I wasn't sure what to do with my old phone... although I wanted a new one that one still had a lot of life left in it and it was working perfectly. After some thinking I thought of Samantha but wasn't sure if her parents would go for it... at 9 years old she isn't really in need of a cell yet... but she loves pink as much as I do and honestly what 9 year old girl wouldn't love a pink cell phone? So after getting permission from Lani I asked Sam if she wanted it and as expected she was quite excited! I got it all set up for her today and dropped it off tonight and ya... I think she likes it! :)

And she's already texting like a pro!

Slice of Life - Day 60

One year ago today is the day that sweet Emily passed away. She was the sweetest, loveliest dog I have ever met. I adored her from the moment I met her but that adoration turned into pure love when Christina got sick and Em started to spend more time with us out here. It was during the time that I wasn't working after leaving Future Shop so her daily walks usually fell to me. We would go out and explore the beach or Dogwood Forest in the morning when I got up and it was always the highlight of the day. She was sometimes playful, sometimes just calm and wanting to meander through the paths... but always game for a quick swim under the train trestle on Semiahmoo First Nations Reserve. I had to be quick to grab her or she would wade right in the smelly water :)

I had so many nick names for her... Em, Emmers, Pretty Face, Em Face, , Emaloo, Emmy Dog... gosh I cant even remember them all...

I miss her a lot. She is the sole reason we got Kalli... just because we wanted to help fill the void left in our lives after she went off to her next adventure. I know that she's in doggy heaven chasing squirrels even as I write this... :)

Gone but never ever forgotten.

Emily Jolie... RIP.
