Slice of Life - Day 95

Today Kalli swam for the first time!! We took her to Dogwood Park and then down to the beach and gradually got her to go in the water deeper and deeper. She was still hesitant and cautious but finally her ball went pretty far and the tide was coming in so she had to swim to reach it. It wasn't much of a swim, she could just barely touch the sand I think so she didn't really even need to swim but she didn't seem to realize that so I guess her natural instinct came out and she started to doggy paddle. It was adorable :)

A few photos from our walk... I didn't catch her swimming cause B had the camera.

Slice of Life - Day 94

Today when I got to work there were a few birds in the parking lot trying to get some sort of nasty food out of a plastic bag. I was watching them and noticing that they were eating pieces of the bag while trying to get at the "food" and this concerned me so I decided to intervene. I went into the store and got some Weetabix cereal and gave them some so that I could distract them long enough to get the bag away. It actually worked! Then later I didn't know what to do with the rest of the cereal so we decided to go out on the side stairs and feed them the rest. It was so much fun that I ended up buying two boxes of cereal to feed them :)

Slice of Life - Day 94

Today after work Becca, Mike and their dog Shelby came over to our place and we all went down to Semiahmoo Park to meet up with Brea, Chris and Kyah for a play/walk. We hung out in the park for a bit with a bunch of other dogs/puppies so that all the dogs had time to get a good play in and then went down to the beach side to play in the water. The tide was pretty far out so we ended up only playing in tide pools but it was fun anyway. It was fun watching them play together and see how the dynamics change with having three of them. Shelby is the old dog so the one that would teach the pups and she likes to chase and speaks to them a lot. She sounds so fierce but is actually a sweetie. Kalli gets jealous of other dogs playing with the dogs she wants to play with and will go off on her own to "sulk" if "her" dog is playing with someone else. Kyah likes everyone!

I like that all of us have dogs, its a fun little activity to do together!

Slice of Life - Day 93

So today was my first yoga class at Live Yoga. I went with Brea, Leesa and Melissa and it was pretty good! I have wanted to do Yoga for a really long time but haven't known anyone else who has wanted to go and was way too afraid to go by myself. I have been thinking about it more and more recently and then in that weird way that things work in the world Brea told me that her and Melissa had gone to check out a studio and I basically invited myself along. And in turn I invited Leesa along... it was good. Not as challenging as I thought it would be yet hard in other ways. I didn't find the positions as hard to get into as I worried I would but I found it hard to be coordinated while changing positions. We had joked about falling over and knocking someone out and happily that didn't happen, however while trying to help Leesa get into a shoulder stand I did kind of push her over into the window... much giggling ensued which the teacher had to come over to break up :) Anyways, here's a photo from after the class.

Slice of Life - Day 92 Part 2

And in a special encore post here is a video that B took at the dog park today with his Blackberry. Kalli is still afraid of the water, this is the best she's done yet.

Slice of Life - Day 92

Brendan calls Kalli "The Destroyer of Worlds"

This is why:

I have had these glasses since 1994, they were a set of 4, have never been put through a dishwasher, always washed by hand, no chips etc. I for some reason love them, so have always been very careful with them. B has wreaked havoc on them, because he likes them he uses them often... and has previously broken 2 of them. Now yesterday he left this one on a low table and Kalli broke it today. I am not pleased. I have tried to be understanding, things get broken, why have them if you cant use them etc... but the loss of yet another one has saddened me and now he has been banned from using the one remaining lonely glass. Sigh.

Still sick, maybe I will use that as an excuse for letting this bug me so much.

Slice of Life - Day 91

I am having a rough day today, my fibromyalgia is seriously kicking my butt, kicking it old skool style. Days like today make me remember how bad it used to be... and should make me feel lucky that it is somewhat under control these days... but as positive a person as I try to be I have to admit that I feel anything but lucky when it comes to anything to do with fibromyalgia. It is not an easy task to deal with daily pain and sleep disturbances... and it is all made worse by the fact that I look fine. Obviously I am happy that fibro isn't disfiguring but people who know nothing about the illness really cant understand how you can be "that" sick when by all appearances you look fine. A lot of people tend to think you're just whining I think... and really have no idea how painful it really is. It just kind of sucks all around. So today has not been great due to this fibro flare up and made worse by the fact that the nosebleeds that have been plaguing me the last couple days came again while I was sleeping last night and although I got up a few times in the night to get tissue I still woke up with a blood soaked pillow and myself covered in blood as well. Fun times!
So in all honestly I felt not one little spark of interest in taking a photo today... but thought you know what, the idea of this is to blog everyday, good times, bad etc. I don't know many humans that are happy shiny people every single day so what the heck... I'm a grouch today and think I'm entitled to be! But I tried to get in the spirit and decided to find something in my house that makes me smile to take a photo of. And sitting at my desk my eye went to my Jack antennae ball from Jack in the Box that I picked up on my last trip to the USA. And then I happened to see a drink umbrella that I stuck in with my pens in my pen holder some day long ago... and those items sparked an idea! I decided to make my Jack ball into a Jacqueline antennae ball instead... and it made me smile... and I showed it to Brendan and it full out made him bust out a big belly laugh :) So even if today I'm not quite a happy shiny girl... I at least am ending this day on a good happy shiny moment.

Night.
